Windows 2012r2 Can t Activate Try Again Later

That's odd, out of curiosity, when you lot made your template, did you do whatsoever syspreping?

Was this mail helpful? thumb_up thumb_down

No sysprep. I am only using for two servers, actually.

I installed Windows 2012, ran all updates, and so converted to template.

So I took VM1, renamed and activated

Then converted VM2 from Template, renamed and tried to actuate.

Whatever thoughts of why ane activated and the other wont?

It wasn't sysprepped.

Run PowerShell as an ambassador run this control:

slmgr.vbs -ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

fill in the Xs with your MAK key

Was this post helpful? thumb_up thumb_down

I was thinking y'all had to run slmgr -upk commencement and then do the slmgr -ipk command.

Was this mail service helpful? thumb_up thumb_down

what about trying to actuate online once again past typing

slmgr /ato

andslmgr -upk

so slmgr -ipk

-- some other useful tool to check status is by VAMT(book activation management tool)

Out of curiosity you do have an active internet connection on the 2d vm? Some vm NIC adapters need vmtools installed to access the internet.

Just a thought as I've run into that before.

I ran into that earlier, too. I fabricated sure that wasn't the case this fourth dimension. This server has an active cyberspace connection

Did you do a elementary deploy from template, or did you exercise the "customization" selection also. The reason I inquire, is because if you do just the deploy without the customization information technology can indistinguishable the SID and a few other things in the registry like reporting to a Windows Update Server as the same server every bit well. I'm wondering if that could potentially have an effect on windows activation as well.

I am trying Bill'due south suggestion by doing a Sysprep. That should resolve all that. I will let you know if it works

I called the Microsoft Volume Licensing Center and they helped me manually actuate it. I am not sure why I couldn't go it to actuate automatically. It only took v minutes of my time.

Crazy, merely glad yous got information technology sorted. :)

Well, I marked the actual correct answer. The IP address I gave this server was in utilize by an onetime apparatus that I didnt even know about. Information technology seemed to go online and piece of work fine, but I couldnt join the domain and do sure things. I changed the IP and everything started working. I am most 99.ix% certain that's why it wouldnt activate.

I went back to some of my old notes dealing with a XenServer template I did a  while dorsum and there was a note about not adding whatsoever virtual network interfaces to the template and to practice those afterward deploying information technology. Maybe that could aid alleviate whatsoever time to come problems?

What you said about sysprepping made me re-recall the mode I do my templates. I learned that all yous had to do in VMWare was create a template with no sysprepping needed. I have been doing it this way for a long time now. What I plant out was that when yous create a machine from template, It gets customized for you by VMWare. It basically does the same affair as a sysprep.

Had the same effect. It ended up being DNS related.

merely had that issue, too. turned out i forgot to add together a default gateway to the nic. "this primal didn´t work" didn´t atomic number 82 me that far in terms of troubleshooting...

Here's the reply from someone which worked big fourth dimension :) The reason you can't actuate it is because you are not connected to the internet. I learn information technology the hard way. 2012 R2's mistake is very generic. When you put the license central, information technology try active the license right way. Because you dont take net, it tin can%u2019t verify it. Here is for anyone who attempt activate over phone on machine that has no internet connexion. Here is the trick I finally figured out. Y'all tin't activate windows past phone considering you have not put in the correct production key number. Here are the steps and I was able to activate over the phone. I have not run across whatsoever one post these steps yet. I spent iv days with Microsoft trying to get some helps. With other user's input and I was able to put together the complete steps. i.To Change Product Central Number in a Command Prompt Open an elevated command prompt. In the elevated control prompt, type in the command beneath and press enter. Annotation: Substitute XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX in this command below with your bodily product central number with dashes instead. slmgr.vbs /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX ii.type slui.exe four to admission the phone activation screen and follow the steps to activate over the telephone.

Same issue for me, I'm spinning up multiple VM's a twenty-four hour period on vSphere 6.0 westward/ Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter. I make certain my VM is continued to the internet, but the production central refuses to activate. I have to call upwards the activation hotline for every VM I create and information technology'south so annoying. Literally taking an hour out of my day if I spin up 6 VM'southward that day. What's going on???

Was this post helpful? thumb_up thumb_down

Found this thread googling my trouble registering a Hyper V VM...  going through normal activation was failing.  The Suggestion from @Dallasit1 did piece of work though.  Become figure.

Thanks @Dallasit1!

Basically if the ISO used to install is not matching with the code you have it will be an event.

BTW calling the tech support they will make you issue the command "slui iv" and you will go the old phone activation

Was this post helpful? thumb_up thumb_down

just been trying to work this out myself for the last hour. Mine turned out to the fact that I had a proxy set in IE. While this allows me to browse the net and download windows updates, information technology wouldnt activate with our VL key.

Turn that off and go out but from our firewall and bingo! Obviously something existence blocked in the proxy. Although nosotros still heavily filter traffic for the firewall too....
